    Face_Icon“Political Correctness” is one of those weasel terms that can be used to mean whatever you want it to. Most commonly it’s “…being careful not to offend or upset any group of people in society who are believed to have, or to have had, a disadvantage.” And, like almost everything in American politics it’s a good intention without a clear outcome, horribly executed by people naive, incurious and intellectually lazy.   • Noodling: What’s So Funny ‘Bout…

    Elvis…peace, love and understanding? Nick Lowe wrote it, Elvis Costello sang it, nobody’s got an answer (me included). But I am curious about it, this tendency to see peace, love and understanding (I’ll throw in happiness too) as childish fantasy or simply unrealistic aspiration for humanity as a whole (“it’ll never happen” is the common refrain).   • Noodling: Why Crazy be Good!

    I actively devote time coaching people toward success, which naturally includes the “how do I do it” part, and the doing part is pretty simple it’s the “who’s doing it” part that’s tough. Why? Cuz’ we’re all crazy!

    But that’s actually good news, the thing that makes us crazy is the exact thing that gives us the power to make the lives we want to live (if we’re not in a war zone, we can feed and clothe ourselves, and we’re free of the threat of imminent death). (more…)
